Abstract
Nowadays, the use of fiber reinforced concrete (FRC) compared to reinforced concrete increases greatly, because experimental studies shows that, the improvement of properties such as ductility, reduction of cracks and the ability to remove or reduce reinforcement in FRC occurs. In this study, addition of polymer-based fibers effect on concrete was investigated. The purpose of this study is to investigate the cement and plasticizer effect on fiber concrete. In this study, the compressive and tensile strength of 7, 28days and 90days specimens made of polymer based fibers were compared with conventional concrete. In addition, the relationship between compressive and tensile strength with different codes has been studied. Forta-ferro, Barchip 48 and polypropylene fibers with 0.5% and 1% volume of concrete were used for making the concrete specimens. The concrete mixing designs of the American Concrete Institute's proposed mixing scheme and their improved mixing scheme have been used. The results of this study showed an increase in the compressive strength of two types of fiber reinforced concrete with Forta-ferro and Barchip 48 fibers and a decrease in the strength of specimens with polypropylene fibers. Also, according to the results, reducing the aggregate size, increasing the cement grade and adding plasticizer increases the compressive and tensile strength of the base polymeric fiber.
