With the increasing number of steel bracing structures, it is vital to study their damage status and seismic performance under seismic loading. We need structures that can retain their functionality after an earthquake and continue to serve. Recently, the strong back system (SBS) has been proposed. SBS is a combination of two elastic and plastic trusses that includes the features of two types of resistant systems. This system divides the bracing span into two different parts. One part consists of a vertical truss that remains elastic and provides a uniform deformation in the height of the structure to distribute forces evenly. The Soft Story Mechanism will be delayed, and the forces will be more evenly distributed at the height of the building. However, few studies have been conducted on the structures equipped with an SBS system, particularly high-rise structures. Therefore, this research examines high-rise structures and shows that if truss elements are added to the truss of the strong back system, the seismic performance of this system will significantly improve.
